Parent Program

By working with their child in the school parents gain a heightened understanding of their child's world and an enhanced parent child relationship. Parents acquire additional skills and strategies through the education component of the co-op school approach. Parents gain a natural support group of other involved parents who have similarly aged children.

Parent Obligations

In order to facilitate the "cooperative" aspect of our preschool families commit to: 

  • Assisting in the classroom 3 to five times a month (varies based on classroom enrollment). Classroom jobs rotate and are listed below.

  • Attending our monthly parent education class.

  • Holding a volunteer position outside of the classroom. This obligation is vital to the success of our co-op.

  • Bringing a nutritious snack on their snack day. Our school is nut-free and other restrictions may be added dependent on students' needs.  

  • Participating in school fundraisers.

Classroom Jobs

Art Parent

  • faciliate art project of the day

  • label projects, clean up, put away tools

  • assist/participate with group time or teacher-directed activities

Snack Parent

  • wipe tables & chairs before preparing and serving snack

  • student will assist with table setting, wash dishes after snack is over

  • be conscientious of allergies and/or food prefereneces in the class

Play Parent

  • assist children during general playtime

  • maintain "free paint" easel area

  • assist/supervise during outdoor activities

  • ensure clean up of spills/vaccum classroom
